Our fall project aims to remind our audience of our commonalities in the midst of a divisive election season. The concert is structured around David Lang’s the national anthems—a study of the similarities in the language each nation uses when defining their national identity.
Tickets are pay what you will with no minimum. Cash and card accepted at the door.

Yom HaShoah Stories and Music
Please join us as we welcome back the Violins of Hope and commemorate Yom HaShoah through personal stories and music. During the program, congregants Babette Sanders, Dan Franks, and Jean Berk will share the powerful stories of their families' fight for survival and rebuilding after WWII. Interspersed will be the music of the time led by Paul Dykstra and choir members.

Autonomy
Autonomy is a program primarily comprised of newly commissioned works. Paradox a opera commissioned Marissa to write a new piece in collaboration with librettist, Germaine Shames, called “An Open Letter to Samuel Alito: Lament of the Choiceless.” Autonomy will be performed in the Raleigh-Durham area during Womens’ History month.





CSO Juan Diego Florez Pre-Concert
The CSO Latino Alliance will host a pre-concert lecture with WFMT's Oliver Camacho and a performance by Marissa Simmons (contralto). This pre-concert lecture will go in-depth about the style of Rossini opera to guide listeners through the following concert. The lecture will also feature musical examples sung by Marissa as well as featuring Marissa Simmons and Yasuko Oura (piano) in a full performance of “Pensa alla Patria” from Rossini’s L’italiana in Algeri. The pre-concert will be followed by a recital by Juan Diego Florez, tenor and pianist, Vincenzo Scalera.
